It can be recalled that Prof. Jerome Nyameh sued the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Col. Agbu Kefas rtd in a Suit No: FHC/JAL/CS/19/2022 on the 14th June, 2022.
Professor Jerome Nyame, the aspirant, has stated that the party’s nominee did not purchase nomination and expression of interest forms, and that they were not checked by the screening committee in Bauchi State.
After the suit, the case was adjourned 30th July for hearing, but unfortunately at the court hearing today, the Defendants counsel for INEC, PDP and Col. Agbu through a letter raise point of Law on the need for originating summon. Justice S.A. Amobeda granted the plea and adjourned the sitting pending the registering of originating summon to 14th July, 2022.
Prof. Jerome is suing the defendants over an alleged undemocratic electoral processes which saw an incumbent elected party chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Taraba State Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd), as the elected flag-bearer of the PDP in Taraba State in the 2023 gubernatorial race.
In the PDP gubernatorial primary, Prof. Jerome Nyameh, one of five candidates, received 24 votes, outpacing out Hon. Joseph Albasu Kunini, speaker of the state House of Assembly, who got 31, Hon. Joel Ikenya, who got 11, Buba Mafindi, who garnered 6, and winner Col. Agbu Kefas, who garnered 443 votes.
This is happening after the All Progressive’s Congress (APC) suit by Prof. Kifasi to restrain INEC and APC from submitting the name of Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha as the gubernatorial flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress Taraba State have also been adjourned to 14th July, 2022 concurrently.
